Bonilla Torregroza Architecture, LLC is an architectural design firm founded in 2009 by Carlos A. Bonilla and Irma Torregroza to provide design solutions relevant and unique to the needs of each client, driven by its function and inspired by its context.  We consider design as an artistic process of collaboration, where we apply our experience and attention to detail with creativity and pragmatism.

Carlos A. Bonilla, AIA, NCARB, registered architect in Florida and Irma Torregroza, Assoc. AIA, graduated with a 5-year bachelor’s degree in architecture from Pontifical Javeriana University, Bogota, Colombia in 2006 with advanced studies in Classical Architecture in Verona, Italy.

Carlos was exposed to Architectural design from an early age as his late father was an Architect and Builder, designing and building important residential and institutional projects in Colombia. After graduation, Carlos started working with his father on the construction side of the company, where he gained a wealth of experience with materials, construction management and a deep understanding of structural design.

After moving to Florida in 1999, he worked for residential design firms creating many outstanding projects in Palm Beach, Jupiter Island and several high-end residential communities. His artistic talent combined with his expertise and knowledge of construction are the key to his successful design solutions.

He served on the Jupiter Historic Preservation board for 3 years and he volunteers for Habitat for humanity. He is also a member of the Institute of Classical Architecture and American Institute of Architects.

On his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, painting watercolors and hiking.

Irma started her professional career at the Javeriana University’s Town Planning and Housing Institute, where she participated as a research assistant in a project that studied the quality of public housing in Bogota. The project was later published.  She also worked as a college professor at the school of Architecture. After moving to Florida, she worked for 10 years for a prominent design firm developing many high-end residential projects with a variety of architectural styles. She also enjoys building scaled models and doing graphic design. She has a clear and simplified approach for solving complex design solutions.

Irma and Carlos have two children, and they enjoy traveling for their architectural inspiration, their combined experience along with their creative approach and attention to detail has produced a successful array of projects in some of the best high-end residential communities in South Florida, Palm Beach, Jupiter Island and Wellington.
